A Brief History of Frisco, TX

Frisco was originally settled in the early 1900s under the name Emerson, before being renamed after the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway that passed through the area. For most of the 20th century it remained a quiet agricultural town. That all changed in the 1990s, when the city began one of the most explosive growth trajectories of any city in American history.

Driving and Transit in Frisco

Frisco is a car-centric city. The main corridors are the Dallas North Tollway (DNT), US-380 (University Drive), FM-423, and Preston Road. The DNT is the most direct route to downtown Dallas and is heavily used by commuters. Morning traffic southbound and evening traffic northbound can be significant.
