FRISCO, TX – December 18, 2025 – As the Frisco Independent School District (FISD) prepares for the closure of Staley Middle School following the 2025–2026 school year, local health experts are urging parents to look beyond the logistics of rezoning and consider the holistic impact on student health.
The unanimous decision by the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees to close one of the district’s oldest campuses will see students rezoned to Griffin, Trent, and Hunt Middle Schools. While the district cites declining enrollment and infrastructure costs as the primary drivers, the transition marks a significant shift for hundreds of local families.
Dr. Kevin Baharvand, founder of Elate Orthodontics and Tribute Family Dentistry, emphasizes that major life transitions—like changing schools—can manifest in unexpected ways, particularly in a child’s physical health.
“For many middle schoolers, routine is their foundation for security,” says Dr. Baharvand. “When that foundation shifts due to new social circles and schedules, health habits are often the first to slip. We frequently see the physical toll of this stress show up as nighttime teeth grinding (bruxism) or recurring mouth sores. It’s important for parents to recognize these as signs that their child is navigating a significant emotional adjustment.”
Middle school is a critical developmental window where stability is paramount. As families navigate new transportation routes and social environments, Elate Orthodontics is committed to serving as a “health home base” for Frisco families, providing a consistent environment for preventive care and wellness.
Dr. Baharvand and the team at Elate Orthodontics encourage parents to maintain familiar routines at home and stay vigilant for signs of stress-related oral health issues during the upcoming transition period.
“Decisions made at the district level ripple into the daily lives of our neighbors,” added Dr. Baharvand. “Our goal is to ensure that as our community evolves, our children’s health and confidence remain a top priority.”
Families affected by the Staley Middle School closure who have concerns about stress-related dental issues or orthodontic progress during this transition are encouraged to visit Elate Orthodontics for a consultation.
